Q.1) Collect news, pictures relating to defence of India from the newspapers of India and neighboring countries and paste here. (Page No. 11-12)

Ans- In the previous article, we reviewed the sub-component of 'Indian Foreign Policy' under the study component of 'International Relations' in General Studies Paper-II. In this article, let's review the relationship between India and the neighboring countries and discuss how to study the bilateral relations between India and the neighboring countries in accordance with the current events, and also what reference materials should be used for the preparation of this component. Every country prefers to establish good relations with neighboring countries in its foreign policy, because relations with neighboring countries affect the country's strategic and geopolitical security.

India's neighboring countries include Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Maldives. We have to know how India's relations with these countries have evolved from a historical perspective i.e. since independence. Also, considering the contemporary perspective, it has to be studied in the background of economic and strategic matters. Considering the regional challenges facing India, the Narendra Modi government has adopted a policy of giving equal treatment to the neighboring countries. The visit of the Foreign Minister to Bhutan and the invitation to the representatives of the 'BIMSTEC' countries for Modi's swearing-in in May 2019 underscores India's 'Neighborhood First' approach. Yet in the context of India's relations with neighboring countries, there is continuity in the policies of the previous UPA-led government.
